Plover birds

Just outside our apartment a pair of Plover birds have settled. We think they are nesting, but can't see a nest yet.

This pot is right by the main exit gate. They are very well camouflaged against the stones, but they certainly make you aware of their presence.

One of them, probably the male, hisses and extends his wings, making himself as large as possible. I was surprised by the size of their wing span. They are obviously protecting something.
